Mexico City Expands Mobility Services to Saturdays for Resident Convenience
Mexico City’s Mobility Secretariat (SEMOVI) has expanded its services to include weekend operations. Starting soon, 13 centres will open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM to assist residents with essential mobility-related tasks. The move aims to help those unable to visit during regular weekday hours.
The new Saturday service will cover key procedures such as driver’s licence issuance, vehicle registration, circulation card replacements, and driving permits. These tasks will be handled at both fixed and mobile locations across the city.
Four fixed centres will operate in San Andrés Tetepilco (Iztapalapa), Roma Norte (Cuauhtémoc), Emperadores (Benito Juárez), and Verónica Anzures (Miguel Hidalgo). Each location has been chosen to ensure broad accessibility for residents. In addition, nine mobile units will be stationed at various points, including Santa Cruz Atoyac (Benito Juárez), Buenavista (Cuauhtémoc), Chinampac de Juárez (Iztapalapa), and Asturias (Cuauhtémoc). Other mobile sites will serve Santa Cruz Acayucan (Azcapotzalco), San Juan de Aragón (Gustavo A. Madero), El Retoño (Iztapalapa), San Lorenzo Tezonco (Tláhuac), and Ex Hacienda Coapa (Tlalpan). These units will rotate to provide coverage across different neighbourhoods.
The expanded Saturday service will offer residents more flexibility for handling mobility-related paperwork. With 13 centres now open on weekends, SEMOVI expects fewer delays and greater convenience for those with busy weekday schedules. The initiative covers both fixed and mobile locations to reach as many people as possible.
