Mexico City expands parking meter enforcement to Saturdays starting March 21
This Saturday, you must use parking meters in Mexico City as usual. It's important to note that the observance of Benito Juárez's birthday is moved to the third Monday in March, meaning today is not considered a public holiday.
As a result, you should be aware that the ecoParq system operates on different schedules depending on the zone where you park. Be sure to check the details before leaving your car.
For example, in the neighborhoods of Benito Juárez Norte and Sur, Anzures, Lomas de Chapultepec, and Florida, meters are enforced Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
In Polanco, in addition to the same weekday hours, enforcement extends from Wednesday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM the following day—but only within the area bounded by Arquímedes, Horacio, Molière, and Reforma avenues.
Finally, in Roma and Hipódromo, meters operate Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with extended hours from Thursday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM the next day.
Also keep in mind that the current rate is $3.40 MXN for every 15 minutes, or $13.60 MXN per hour.
What Are the Payment Methods for Parking Meters in Mexico City?
Another key detail is that there are three ways to pay at parking meters: cash, the "MUEVE CIUDAD" prepaid card (accepted in all zones except Juárez and Cuauhtémoc), and through authorized apps:
- Blinkay: Available in Noche Buena, Extremadura Insurgentes, Insurgentes Mixcoac, San José Insurgentes, and Crédito Constructor.
- Parkum: Accepted in all zones except Juárez and Cuauhtémoc.
- Mueve Ciudad: Valid in all zones except Juárez and Cuauhtémoc.
What Is the Fine for Not Paying the Parking Meter?
If you fail to pay the parking meter, your car could be fitted with an immobilizing wheel clamp. To have it removed, you'll need to pay $340.00 MXN, as stipulated in Articles 259 and 230 of Mexico City's 2026 Fiscal Code.
On top of that, the fine for late or non-payment can range from 5 to 10 times the current Unidad de Medida y Actualización (UMA), amounting to approximately $586.55 to $1,173.10 MXN.
Lastly, it's worth noting that motorcycles are exempt from parking meter fees. However, they can still be ticketed if parked outside designated areas, which are marked with blue road markings and a pictogram.
