Mexico City Metro Line 2 announces temporary closures for upgrades

Mexico City’s Metro Line 2 will face service changes from May 23 to May 25. The adjustments come as part of ongoing upgrades to improve the line’s infrastructure. Passengers should expect temporary closures and alternative transport during this period. The disruptions begin on May 23 at 8:00 p.m., when trains will run only between Pino Suárez and Cuatro Caminos. The section from San Antonio Abad to Tasqueña will then close completely on May 23 and 24.

On May 24, no service will operate between Tasqueña and San Antonio Abad. Instead, trains will continue running between Pino Suárez and Cuatro Caminos. To help affected passengers, free shuttle buses will replace trains on the Tasqueña–Pino Suárez route, stopping at every station along the way. The closures aim to speed up rehabilitation work on Line 2’s above-ground stations. Authorities have stressed that these upgrades will bring long-term improvements to the network, extending beyond the FIFA World Cup preparations.

The temporary changes will last until May 25. Passengers travelling along the affected sections should plan for alternative transport. The free bus service will remain available throughout the closure period.
