Los Angeles is upgrading its public transport fleet along Eje 8 Sur, a major route stretching from Constitución de 1917 to Mixcoac. The Mobility Secretariat (SEMOVI) will replace up to 110 outdated vehicles with 44 modern trolleybuses, aiming to improve safety and service quality.
The replacement program focuses on Routes 2, 14, and 25, involving up to 110 operators. The city will purchase 18 standard trolleybuses and 26 articulated ones, all meeting strict standards for efficiency, accessibility, and reliability.
To encourage participation, operators will receive 850,000 pesos for each scrapped vehicle. The total incentive fund could reach 93 million pesos. The initiative was officially published in the Mexico City Gazette, outlining its scope and requirements.
The new trolleybuses will replace older models, ensuring better performance and passenger experience. Operators on the affected routes will benefit from financial incentives while the city modernizes its transport network. The changes are set to take effect along one of the capital's busiest corridors.
