Monterrey Debuts 30 High-Tech Buses to Modernize Public Transit
Governor Samuel García and Mariana Rodríguez, head of AMAR a NL, have unveiled 30 new public transit buses in La Estanzuela, Monterrey. The buses will serve routes 5 and 405, marking a step forward in the state’s transit modernisation efforts. The administration has broader plans to deploy 4,000 new buses across the region. The newly introduced buses come equipped with air conditioning, surveillance cameras connected to the C5 security centre, and onboard internet. These upgrades aim to provide a safer, more comfortable, and efficient service for passengers. The fleet replacement targets vehicles over 20 years old, directly benefiting more than 157,000 residents in the area.
This phase completes the bus replacement programme for Monterrey’s southern basin. Future work will focus on expanding improvements to García and Santa Catarina municipalities. Beyond new vehicles, the initiative includes professional driver training, better working conditions, and ongoing oversight to ensure long-term service quality. The new buses are part of a wider plan to enhance mobility across the state. They replace ageing vehicles and introduce modern features for passenger comfort and safety. The programme reflects a commitment to upgrading public transport infrastructure systematically.
