Moroccan Startup GoSwap Secures Funding to Boost Electric Scooter Swaps

Moroccan startup GoSwap has secured its first round of funding to expand electric mobility in the country. The company specialises in automated battery swapping for electric scooters, aiming to make green transport faster and more affordable. The investment will help grow its network in Casablanca and beyond. GoSwap's system allows riders to swap a drained battery for a fully charged one in under 10 seconds. Currently, 20 swap cabinets operate across CashPlus stores, Petrom, and Shell stations in Casablanca. The funding, provided by the Azur Innovation Fund, will add more swap points in the city.

The expansion also supports new electric motorcycle models. Hamza Slimani, the startup's founder, wants to cut costs and improve access to electric transport. Adnane Filali, managing partner at Azur Innovation Management, believes the solution holds strong potential for African cities. GoSwap's focus remains on Casablanca for now. The company has not yet announced plans for other Moroccan cities.

The investment will speed up the rollout of GoSwap's swap stations in Casablanca. More points mean quicker charging options for electric scooter users. The move could also encourage wider adoption of electric motorcycles in Morocco.
