Munich's U5 subway faces major disruptions due to station renovations
Munich’s public transport operator, Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG), has announced major renovation work at Innsbrucker Ring U-Bahn station. The upgrades will disrupt U5 services from late April until June, with changes affecting both daytime and late-night travel. Starting in late April, U5 trains will only operate between Laimer Platz and Innsbrucker Ring. Passengers heading toward Neuperlach Süd will need to switch to the U7 or U8 lines instead. Some connections may also require a detour via the mezzanine level to reach alternative routes.
During weekend late-night services, one track will remain closed. This will further limit U5 operations, though exact timings for the closures have not yet been specified.
The renovations will alter travel plans for U5 passengers over the next two months. Commuters should prepare for possible delays and plan extra time for transfers. MVG has advised checking service updates before travelling during the work period.
