New LRT line completes trial runs ahead of passenger launch
A new light rail transit (LRT) line has begun trial operations between Auyezhai and Nurly Zhol stations. The tests mark a key step before the line opens to passengers, with engineers assessing both trains and infrastructure. During the trial runs, trains reached speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph). The focus was on checking how well the rolling stock performed under real conditions.
The tests also covered traffic control, communication, and signalling systems. All components were confirmed to be working as intended. Infrastructure checks remain ongoing, ensuring tracks, stations, and supporting systems meet safety standards before public use.
The successful trial operation brings the LRT line closer to full service. Once completed, the route will connect Auyezhai and Nurly Zhol stations for regular passenger travel. Further assessments will continue before the official launch.
