A new bus route now connects Minsk with Trakai, a historic town in Lithuania. The service, launched by carrier Atlas, offers travellers a direct link to one of the country's most popular tourist spots. Tickets for the journey cost just 130 rubles, regardless of where passengers board or exit.
Until now, buses from Belarus only reached Vilnius and Kaunas, along with their airports. The expanded route now includes Trakai, known for landmarks like Vytautas' Castle and Trakai Island Castle. The trip takes about 5.5 hours, with stops in Ivye, Voranava, and Vilnius along the way.
Buses depart Minsk twice daily, at 3:00 AM and 4:20 AM. Return services leave Trakai at 11:00 AM and 2:35 PM. The route uses the Benyakoni checkpoint, a crossing known for its efficiency and minimal delays. Passengers pay a flat fare of 130 rubles for a one-way ticket, no matter where they start or finish their journey. The schedule remains consistent, making travel planning straightforward for visitors.
The new service provides a budget-friendly option for tourists heading to Trakai from Belarus. With reliable timings and a simple fare system, the route aims to boost travel between the two countries. The connection also opens up easier access to Lithuania's historic sites for Belarusian visitors.
