Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reported a strong rise in freight loading for April 2026. The total reached 0.972 million tonnes, marking an 8.6% increase over the same month last year. This growth reflects expanding economic and industrial activity across the region. The surge in freight was led by coal, which saw a 141.7% jump compared to April 2025. Cement loading also climbed sharply, rising by 329.0% over the previous year. Dolomite followed with a 20.7% increase, while miscellaneous commodities under the 'Others' category grew by 190.0%.

NFR’s performance has boosted revenue and strengthened the regional supply chain. The railway continues to prioritise technological upgrades, operational efficiency, and customer-focused freight services. These efforts aim to maintain reliable transportation and support further growth in the coming months. The increased freight movement highlights the region’s economic momentum. With key commodities like coal and cement driving demand, NFR’s focus on efficiency and innovation is set to sustain this upward trend. The railway’s performance is expected to play a vital role in supporting industrial expansion across the Northeast.
