Nizhny Novgorod overhauls 16 km of roads in major summer renovation
Nizhny Novgorod is launching a major road renovation project this year. Over 16 kilometres of streets will be upgraded as part of the national initiative. Work begins in early June, with key routes and infrastructure set for repairs. The first disruption will start on June 1 at 8:00 AM near building No. 10 on Malaya Pokrovskaya Street. A full road closure will take effect as crews begin a major overhaul of the heating networks close to the Central Post Office. Drivers will be redirected via a designated detour during the construction period.
Later in the month, Zvezdinka Street will see repairs starting on June 29. The work will include resurfacing the asphalt, fitting new manhole covers and curbs, and refreshing road markings. This section of the project aims to improve both safety and driving conditions.
Other key routes scheduled for renovation include Ryabtseva Street, Kazan Highway, and the Myzinsky Overpass. These upgrades form part of the wider plan to modernise the city’s transport network. The project will bring temporary closures and detours to several busy areas. Once completed, the renovated roads and infrastructure should provide smoother travel for residents and visitors. Authorities have advised drivers to plan ahead for possible delays during the works.
