Novosibirsk leads as Russia's taxi drivers face traffic rule knowledge test

Sverdlovsk Region ranked seventh in a regional rating of taxi drivers' knowledge of traffic rules, scoring an average of 16.61 points, the Public Council for Taxi Development told our website.

The top spots were claimed by Novosibirsk Region (18.89), St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region (18.37), and Tyumen Region (18.20). The top ten also included Tambov Region (18.15), Sevastopol (17.75), Kirov Region (16.77), Bashkortostan (16.17), Tomsk Region (15.86), and Udmurtia (15.35).

The ranking was compiled based on the results of theoretical exams taken by taxi drivers participating in the Best Taxi Driver in Russia competition since 2018. Analysts collected scores from all participants in regional stages for each federal subject and calculated the average. Data from 48 regions were reviewed, with a total of 1,992 exam results analyzed. The maximum possible score was 20 points.

Drivers took a 20-question test on traffic regulations and a practical driving exam. Judges assessed ride safety, precision in maneuvering, and smoothness of handling.
