Nuremberg boosts public transport for Easter Market shopping rush

Nuremberg's public transport operator, VAG, will run extra services in the city centre on March 22. The changes coincide with the Easter Market's shopping Sunday, when stores will open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. More buses and trains will help visitors travel smoothly during the busy event.

On subway line U1, trains between Messe and Eberhardshof will run every five minutes from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. This increased frequency aims to handle higher passenger numbers during the market hours.

Buses on routes 36, 46, and 47 will also operate more often in the downtown area. The updated schedules are already available in the online timetable. Over the past three years, at least 12 other German cities and regions have introduced similar transport plans for major shopping events. These include Cologne, Munich, Hamburg, and Leipzig, as well as locations in Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony.

The extra services will support visitors attending the Easter Market. Shops will remain open until 6 p.m., and the adjusted timetables are designed to prevent overcrowding. VAG's changes follow a growing trend of enhanced transport during large public events across Germany.
