Nvidia's DLSS 4.5 preview reveals next-gen frame generation breakthroughs

Nvidia's latest DLSS upgrades have been previewed ahead of their planned spring release. ComputerBase tested the new DLSS Multi Frame Generation 6× and Dynamic MFG modes, which promise smoother performance with minimal trade-offs. Early impressions suggest noticeable improvements over previous generations.

The new DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution can now be built directly into games using Nvidia's SDK. This gives developers more control over how the technology is applied, potentially leading to better optimisation for different titles.

A blind test hosted by ComputerBase lets the community compare upscaling results across six games. Participants can vote on which algorithm delivers the best visual quality, offering real-world feedback before the official rollout.

In hands-on testing, Dynamic MFG mode showed strong results. It supports all frame generation settings and automatically disables synthetic frames when unnecessary, reducing latency without sacrificing smoothness. The mode aims to strike a balance between high frame rates and responsive gameplay.

Early comparisons between DLSS MFG 6× and the older MFG 4× revealed little difference in actual gameplay. Testers reported no added input lag, making the higher frame generation mode just as fluid as its predecessor.

No official launch date for DLSS Multi Frame Generation 6× or Dynamic MFG has been confirmed. Leaked details from January 2026 mention these features as part of DLSS 4.5, but specific game support and benchmarks remain under wraps. The technology is expected to refine frame generation further, pending its eventual release.
