ÖBB extends platforms on Vienna's Laaer Ostbahn for longer trains

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is currently extending platforms along the Laaer Ostbahn in Schleinbach and Neubau-Kreuzstetten to 160 meters. The upgrades will enable the use of longer, modern trains, increasing capacity in the growing eastern metropolitan region.

Major construction began on February 16 and will continue until April 3. In Schleinbach, night work is also scheduled for the first week of March. According to ÖBB, the project will not disrupt train schedules, though passengers may experience noise, dust, and temporary restrictions on access routes.

The Laaer Ostbahn is a key commuter line connecting the Weinviertel region with Vienna. The platform extensions will provide more seating and improved comfort for passengers in the long term.
