Omsk launches subsidies to modernize private bus fleets by 2026

Omsk has announced a new subsidy programme to help private bus operators buy modern vehicles. The scheme will cover part of the cost for companies that run regulated urban routes. Funding will come from both federal and regional sources. Starting in 2026, eligible transport firms can claim reimbursements for purchasing Russian-made buses. The vehicles must be no older than 18 months and meet large-capacity requirements. Operators can buy 35 buses in 2026, 24 in 2027, and 63 in 2028 under the programme.

The maximum subsidy per bus next year will reach nearly 6.6 million rubles. Only legal entities with prior experience in urban passenger transport qualify. As of April 2026, no official data has been released on how many private companies have expressed interest in the scheme. The initiative aims to modernise Omsk's bus fleet by supporting private operators. Companies meeting the criteria can apply for subsidies when purchasing new, domestically produced buses. The programme's rollout will depend on participation from existing transport providers.
