Omsk's Gospitalnaya Street to close for urgent roadworks in late February

Major roadworks in Omsk will disrupt traffic later this month. A key section of Gospitalnaya Street will close for several days, forcing drivers onto alternate routes. The city has issued guidance to help motorists navigate the changes.

The closure begins on Friday, February 20, at 9:00 PM and lasts until 6:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24. The affected area stretches from the Frunzensky Bridge entrance ramp to the viaduct exit. No vehicles will be allowed through during this period.

Drivers have been advised to use Oktyabrskaya, Bulatova, Gusarova, Frunze, and Yakovleva streets instead. Temporary signs and traffic controllers will direct motorists along these routes. The city has stressed the importance of following their instructions to avoid delays.

This project is part of a long-term upgrade plan for Gospitalnaya Street. Preparations started in early February, with the full works expected to take around 24 months. Previous disruptions in Omsk included the Omsk Refinery modernisation (2019–2023) and the Sibirskaya Street bridge reconstruction (2022–2025).

The temporary closure aims to speed up essential repairs on a busy central route. Motorists should plan extra time for journeys and check for updates before travelling. The restrictions will lift early on February 24, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.
