Omsk's new smart traffic system cuts morning commutes by 30%

Omsk has launched a new traffic light coordination system along Krasnoy Put Street. The update aims to tackle long-standing morning congestion and speed up journeys across key routes. Drivers can now expect smoother travel during peak hours.

The system adjusts signal timings to improve flow toward the city centre in the mornings. In the evenings, it prioritises traffic heading to the Neftyanikov district. Changes also affect intersections at Kemerovskaya Street, the Rabinovich bus stop, and Frunze Street.

Early results show travel times along these routes have dropped by as much as 30%. The time saved has been redirected to ease congestion on approaches from Kemerovskaya Street. Officials believe the new setup will eliminate persistent morning jams on Krasnoy Put Street.

The system will run for six months before any further refinements. During this period, traffic patterns and delays will be closely monitored.

The updated coordination system is now active on Krasnoy Put Street. Commuters can expect faster trips and fewer bottlenecks during rush hours. A full review will take place after the six-month trial period ends.
