One in five Yekaterinburg buses fails safety checks in crackdown

During a recent three-day operation, Yekaterinburg traffic inspectors identified 109 violations. The most common offenses included:

  • 17 cases of bus drivers operating vehicles with critical malfunctions that render them unroadworthy;
  • 20 drivers caught without a valid technical inspection;
  • 9 vehicles lacking a tachograph—a device that records speed, distance traveled, and driver working and rest periods;
  • 6 drivers found without proper documentation;
  • 1 bus driver operating a vehicle with no functioning brakes.

Inspectors examined over 200 vehicles in total.

The crackdown follows a September report revealing that one in five passenger buses in Yekaterinburg operates in violation of regulations.
