Osterrra Pacific Port wins top maritime award amid record coal exports

Russia's Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) has announced the winners of its annual "Industry Leader" award (18+). The Osterrra Pacific Port terminal (a subsidiary of Daltransugol, part of the Port Alliance group) took first place in the "Best Marine Stevedoring Company" category, scoring 40 out of a possible 48 points, the company's press service reports.

The "Industry Leader" pennant and a certificate of honor were presented to the terminal's executive director, Vladimir Dolgopolov, by the agency's head, Andrei Tarasenko, during a formal awards ceremony held on March 19 as part of the expanded final meeting of Rosmorrechflot's Board and Public Council in Moscow.

"Winning this award is a high recognition of our work at the federal level. This success is not the result of a single year but of a consistent development strategy, capacity modernization, and the introduction of cutting-edge coal transshipment technologies—made possible by investments and the effective management of the Port Alliance. I want to thank the entire team, from frontline workers to engineering services, for their coordinated and efficient efforts. This victory is another powerful incentive for us to move forward. In 2026, we plan to increase cargo turnover by 17%, reaching 23 million tons in transshipment volume.

While the port's confirmed capacity stands at 32.8 million tons, this gives us a solid margin and a clear vision for future growth. By the end of 2027, following the completion of the second phase of our investment program, the terminal's capacity will expand to 40 million tons of coal per year," said Vladimir Dolgov, director of Osterrra Pacific Port, following the ceremony.

A key player in Russia's eastern export corridor, Osterrra Pacific Port—a resident of the Free Port of Vladivostok—specializes in shipping Russian coal to the Asia-Pacific region. In 2025, the terminal's cargo turnover surged by 35% to 19.6 million tons, with a 32% increase recorded since the start of this year. This growth comes amid mixed trends in the broader industry. Last year, Osterrra handled half of all coal exports from the Far Eastern Railway to the Asia-Pacific region.

Congratulating Vladimir Dolgopolov on the award, Andrei Tarasenko, head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, emphasized that Osterrra's success underscores the strategic importance of Russia's eastern trade routes.

Against a backdrop of external challenges and structural shifts in global logistics, Russia's maritime industry remains resilient and continues to grow. The victory of Ostera in the Industry Leader awards is clear proof: Russian ports have not only adapted to new conditions but are also gaining momentum. The pivot to the East has proven its strategic value—cargo flows have been rerouted, infrastructure is being modernized, and investment in port capacity is rising. The performance of the maritime sector is crucial to our country's foreign economic activity," said Andrei Tarasenko, head of Rosmorrechflot (Russia's Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport).

Sergei Skaliy, Deputy CEO for Investment Project Support at the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), also commented on the award:

"This federal recognition of a resident company's project confirms the effectiveness of the Advanced Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) regime and the principles of business support in the Far East. Ostera consistently fulfills its commitments to production development. To date, 13.4 billion rubles have been invested in the project. In terms of operational efficiency, the port ranks among the top three specialized terminals in the country. The project's implementation is driving growth in coal exports to Asia-Pacific markets, enhancing the socioeconomic appeal of Khabarovsk Krai and the entire Far East. The FEDC will continue to provide necessary support, ensuring tax incentives and administrative preferences for the project's success."

The Industry Leader awards have been held annually since 2013, recognizing government agencies and commercial organizations in Russia's maritime and river transport sectors. This year, 73 applications were submitted across 16 categories. Alongside Ostera, another asset of Port Alliance—the Tuapse Bulk Terminal—was also nominated, underscoring the management company's systematic approach to operational excellence.
