Overnight closures on B 51 and B 68 to disrupt travel near Osnabrück
Major roadworks will soon disrupt travel between Osnabrück-Nahne and Georgsmarienhütte. The Lower Saxony State Road and Transport Authority has announced two full overnight closures on the B 51 and B 68. Drivers should prepare for diversions and delays over the coming weeks. The closures will take place on the nights of May 19 and May 20, each lasting from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic in both directions will be redirected via the B 68 and Alte Rothenfelder Straße during these periods.
On May 19, roadworks on the Osnabrück-bound lanes will finish. After this, crews will begin resurfacing the lanes heading toward Georgsmarienhütte. The entire project, including cycle path renewals, is set to continue until early July. From May 22, vehicles will be moved onto the freshly resurfaced B 51. The overnight closures are part of the next construction phase, ensuring the road and cycle paths meet updated safety and quality standards.
Drivers using the B 51 and B 68 should plan for alternative routes during the closures. The renewed road and cycle paths will be open by early July. Until then, temporary diversions will remain in place to keep traffic moving.
