Petropavl's Youth Lead Eco-Quizzes and City Cleanups for Change

Petropavl recently hosted two events focused on environmental responsibility and civic engagement. A student quiz tested knowledge of ecology and sustainability, while a city-wide cleanup aimed to preserve local landmarks. Both initiatives encouraged young people to take an active role in protecting their community and the environment. The quiz, titled Cleanliness Is Respect for History, was structured to educate students on urban cleanliness and environmental challenges. The first round covered ecology, sustainability, and legal waste disposal rules. Judges assessed teams on both accuracy and how well they worked together.

The second round shifted to a fast-paced brainstorming challenge. Participants had to quickly define environmental terms and concepts, testing their knowledge under pressure. Madi Kaliyev, one of the students, later described the experience as eye-opening, saying it broadened his understanding of environmental issues and made him feel more connected to the cause. Almagul Zabbas, the event organiser, explained that the quiz was designed to do more than just teach facts. Its goal was to sharpen critical thinking, foster teamwork, and build ecological literacy among young people. At the end, all participants received certificates and small rewards, while the winning teams earned diplomas and eco-friendly gifts. Alongside the quiz, the city organised a cleanup event targeting local landmarks. Volunteers worked to improve and maintain these sites, reinforcing the idea that young people play a key part in preserving both cultural memory and ecological health.

The events in Petropavl brought students and residents together for hands-on environmental action. The quiz rewarded knowledge and teamwork, while the cleanup highlighted the importance of protecting shared spaces. Organisers hope these efforts will inspire lasting engagement with ecological and civic responsibility.
