Platz der Deutsche Einheit bus and tram routes face April changes
Bus and tram services at Platz der Deutsche Einheit will change from Monday, April 20. The adjustments come as district heating works begin on Schwalbach Street. Passengers should expect temporary route shifts until July. Construction on Schwalbach Street will force several bus lines to relocate their stops. Routes 4, 5, 14, 15, 17, 22, 24, 27, 45, and 47—along with multiple night services—will now use position (D) instead of their usual spot. Regional buses, however, will not stop at Platz der Deutsche Einheit at all during the works. Commuters on these services are advised to board or alight at the nearby 'Dernsches Gelände (C)' stop instead.
Trams will face fewer disruptions. Lines 6, 269, 270, 273, and X72 will continue operating as normal, serving Platz der Deutsche Einheit without changes. The construction is set to last until July, meaning altered arrangements will remain in place for several months.
The changes take effect on April 20 and will affect both local and regional transport. Bus passengers must check their routes and plan for alternative stops where needed. Tram users, however, will experience no interruptions to their usual journeys.
