Rare white-sided dolphin rescued and released in Russia's Krasnodar Region

A rare white-sided dolphin has been rescued after being found in distress near Kiselyov Rock in Russia’s Krasnodar Region. The animal was severely weakened and covered in wounds when volunteers discovered it in the Tuapse District.

The dolphin was in critical condition when rescuers reached it. Its body showed signs of severe emaciation, and its wounds were inflamed, coated in an oily film. Volunteers immediately began treatment to clean and soothe the injuries.

By the evening, the dolphin’s condition had improved. It regained enough strength to stay afloat without assistance. The next day, the animal swam back into the sea on its own.

The successful rescue allowed the dolphin to return to its natural habitat. Its wounds were treated, and its ability to swim independently confirmed its recovery. The incident highlights the efforts of local volunteers in protecting marine wildlife.
