RB 25 line faces five-month shutdown for major track upgrades
Major construction work will disrupt train services on the RB 25 line from late March. The route between Cologne Hansaring and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen will see cancellations for nearly five months. A replacement bus service will cover affected sections during this time.
The construction begins on March 27 and continues until August 7. All trains on the RB 25 line between Cologne Hansaring and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen will be cancelled during this period.
The core replacement service, named SEV RB 25, will run between Cologne Messe/Deutz and Gummersbach. Buses will fill the gap left by the suspended trains, ensuring passengers can still travel along this stretch. Beyond Gummersbach-Dieringhausen, trains will keep operating as usual. Hourly services between Gummersbach-Dieringhausen and Lüdenscheid will remain unaffected throughout the construction.
Passengers travelling between Cologne and Gummersbach will need to use the replacement buses until early August. The work aims to improve the line, but regular train services will only resume once the upgrades are complete. Full details on timetables and alternative routes are expected to be released before the start date.
