Rolls-Royce recalls 102 Cullinan SUVs over faulty rear seat belts

Rolls-Royce Recall Affects Vehicles Built Between November 2019 and November 2025

Internal documents from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that the recall targets vehicles manufactured between November 2019 and November 2025. The issue centers on mounting bolts that may not have been properly tightened at the factory. In the worst-case scenario, these bolts could loosen while driving. For rear-seat passengers, this could mean that seat belts might fail to provide full protection in a crash.

There is also a risk that, in the event of an impact, the rear seatback could shift forward due to luggage sliding from the trunk. As a result, Rolls-Royce is advising customers to avoid using both the rear seats and the trunk until their vehicle has been inspected. Auto Motor und Sport has reached out to Rolls-Royce to confirm whether the recall includes vehicles in Germany. So far, the manufacturer has identified a total of 102 affected models.

Defect Discovered After Unusual Rattling Noise

The problem was uncovered almost by chance. During a test drive, an unfamiliar rattling sound was noticed near the rear C-pillar. A subsequent technical inspection traced the noise to a loose bolt in the seat belt mechanism. Rolls-Royce then examined additional vehicles and production records, concluding that other Cullinan models from the specified period could also be affected.

Recall Campaign to Begin in May

The fix is relatively straightforward: At dealerships, the affected bolts will be checked and, if necessary, tightened or replaced. The seat belts themselves will also be inspected and replaced if needed.

The recall will be carried out free of charge for customers, with owner notifications set to begin in May 2026. To date, no accidents or injuries related to this issue have been reported.
