Ryanair invests £40M to expand Prestwick Airport's maintenance hub
Ryanair is expanding its maintenance base at Prestwick Airport in Scotland with a £40 million investment. The project will add a new heavy-maintenance hangar and increase total capacity to ten bays. The expansion includes a 12,000-square-metre hangar with four additional maintenance bays. This will bring the total number of bays at the site to ten. Scottish Enterprise has approved £11.6 million in funding to support the project, while the UK government is contributing £4.9 million for infrastructure improvements.
The development is expected to create 450 new jobs, including 60 apprenticeships. Ryanair's investment aims to strengthen its operations in Scotland and improve maintenance efficiency for its fleet. Once complete, the expanded facility will boost Prestwick Airport's role in aircraft maintenance. The additional bays and workforce will allow Ryanair to service more aircraft locally. The project also supports long-term job growth in the region.
