Sharjah adjusts public transport for Eid with route changes and extra buses
Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced changes to public transport services during the Eid holiday. Some routes will be temporarily suspended, while others will see increased frequency to handle higher passenger numbers. The adjustments aim to keep travel smooth and efficient across the emirate and beyond. Services on Route 22, which connects to Souq Al Haraj, will pause for the holiday period. Meanwhile, intercity transport will expand significantly. A fleet of 155 buses will operate 9,760 trips, linking Sharjah with other emirates. During peak times, buses will run every five minutes to reduce waiting times.
Within Sharjah, 104 buses will cover 12 routes and 527 stops, completing 1,144 daily trips. Marine transport between Sharjah and Dubai will remain unaffected. Ferries will depart Sharjah at 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 9:00 PM, with return trips from Dubai at 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 8:00 PM, and 10:00 PM. The authority has stressed that these measures are designed to ease congestion and provide safe, reliable transport throughout the holiday.
The temporary suspension of Route 22 contrasts with boosted services on other lines. With shorter wait times and maintained marine links, passengers can expect consistent travel options during Eid. The SRTA’s plan focuses on keeping movement efficient across both land and water routes.
