Shkotovo's new 40-meter bridge opens to ease local transport woes
A new 40-metre bridge has opened for trial use on Leninskaya Street in Shkotovo. Located opposite building No. 69, the structure replaces an outdated crossing that had long hindered local transport links. Authorities say the upgrade will improve travel within the settlement for years to come. The previous bridge in Shkotovo had grown structurally and functionally obsolete over time. Its replacement, built by specialists from VSK-1, is made of reinforced concrete and features modern guardrails, barriers, and clear road markings. The design ensures durability and long-term service.
Meanwhile, in Khorol Urban District, a separate bridge collapse on 27 May 2023 left the village of Sivakovka isolated. The failure destroyed the only access road for around 1,000 residents. In response, crews have now begun constructing a temporary crossing to restore the connection. The new Shkotovo bridge is already in trial operation, offering safer and more reliable passage. For Sivakovka, the temporary structure under construction will provide a vital link until a permanent solution is in place. Both projects aim to restore and improve transport access for local communities.
