Sochi cracks down on reckless scooter riders with fines and penalties
A joint operation in Sochi has targeted scooter riders breaking traffic rules. Police, city officials, and e-scooter companies worked together to enforce penalties. The crackdown resulted in multiple fines for violations.
The operation took place across Sochi, with traffic police, local authorities, and sharing services inspecting riders. Eighteen administrative fines were handed out during the checks. One of these went to a teenager, whose case was passed to the juvenile affairs commission.
Nine riders also face extra penalties from sharing companies for breaching rental agreements. These fines range from 10,000 to 30,000 rubles. The State Traffic Inspectorate confirmed that similar enforcement raids will now happen regularly in the city.
The crackdown highlights stricter monitoring of scooter use in Sochi. Riders violating rules will face both official fines and penalties from rental services. Authorities plan to continue these operations to improve road safety.
