Sochi's Novorossiysk Highway gets a 440M-ruble facelift before tourist season

A major overhaul is currently underway on Novorossiysk Highway in Sochi. The project, costing over 440 million rubles, aims to improve transport links for residents in Matsesta and Khosta. Work is progressing without any road closures, ensuring minimal disruption for drivers.

The repairs include replacing the asphalt concrete surface along key sections of the highway. Alongside this, street lighting and drainage systems are being upgraded to modern standards. The mayor has taken a direct role in overseeing the work to ensure timely completion.

Over the past five years, the federal A-147 highway in Sochi has seen significant upgrades. These include a four-lane expansion between Adler and Krasnaya Polyana, completed in 2022, as well as the construction of 15 new bridges and tunnels to reduce bottlenecks between 2023 and 2025. Intelligent traffic systems (ITS) were also installed for real-time monitoring and dynamic signage.

The current project on Novorossiysk Highway is set to finish before the start of the resort season. It forms part of broader efforts to ease congestion on the A-147 route and enhance access to residential areas.

The upgrades will improve travel conditions for locals and visitors alike. With no closures during construction, the project aims for a smooth transition before the busy tourist period begins. The investment also reflects ongoing efforts to modernise Sochi's transport infrastructure.
