Southern Papenteich's new circular bus route launches next week

Public transport in southern Papenteich is set to change from Monday, 23 March. A new circular bus route, the VLG, will introduce hourly services on weekdays, connecting multiple villages in a continuous loop. The adjustments also include updated timetables for several existing lines, aiming to improve connections across the region.

The new VLG route will run Monday to Friday, linking Wenden, Thune, Eickhorst, Vordorf, Meine, Rethen, Adenbüttel, Groß Schwülper, Lagesbüttel, and Harxüttel in an hourly loop. This circular service replaces parts of line 434's weekday schedule, which will now operate only as far as Thune between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. For journeys beyond Harxüttel toward Groß Schwülper, passengers will transfer to the VLG instead.

Line 434 will adapt its frequency to coordinate with the new service, alternating between 15- and 45-minute intervals throughout the day. On weekends, it will maintain an hourly service to both Thune and Harxüttel, though some school transport trips will switch to on-demand taxis. In the evenings, when the VLG is not running, line 434 will extend its route to Groß Schwülper to fill the gap.

Other lines will see minor timetable tweaks. Line 421 will adjust its frequency between Braunschweig's Sachsendamm and Wolfenbüttel's In den Schönen Morgen, moving to hourly service, while keeping 30-minute intervals between Sachsendamm and Helmstedter Straße. Smaller schedule changes will also apply to lines 413, 424, 433, 455, and 466, mostly affecting departure times for select trips.

The changes take effect on 23 March, with the VLG's circular route offering all-day direct links across southern Papenteich. Line 434 will support the new service by adjusting its schedule, while line 421 and other routes will see revised frequencies. Passengers are advised to check updated timetables before travelling.
