Spring conscription kicks off with 140 recruits joining Military Unit No. 30238

Military Unit No. 30238 has welcomed over 140 new recruits during this spring’s conscription campaign. The unit focuses on building discipline, teamwork and adaptability in soldiers from their first day. Training begins early, with a structured daily routine designed to prepare them for service. Each day starts at 6 a.m. with morning exercises and a full inspection. After breakfast, recruits attend classes covering military regulations, drill, marksmanship, combat medicine, tactical exercises and topography. The curriculum ensures they develop both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Before any training session, safety briefings are mandatory. Surveillance cameras monitor key areas of the unit to maintain security. A dedicated block of instruction also familiarises soldiers with heavy equipment, including the D-20 howitzer and the Arlan armoured vehicle. Recruits first complete a month of basic training. Following this, they are assigned specialised roles based on their strengths and preferences. The unit provides uniforms, essential gear and scheduled phone access to help soldiers stay in touch with family. Contract service forms a key part of the unit’s staffing, with terms ranging from three to five years. Soldiers signing contracts gain access to preferential mortgage programmes. Olesya Starykh, a representative from the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers, regularly visits to check on the recruits’ health and conditions.

The unit’s structured approach ensures soldiers train cohesively and confidently under all conditions. With safety measures, specialised instruction and support systems in place, recruits progress through their service with clear guidance. The spring intake has now begun their preparation for military roles.
