Sverdlovsk Region accelerates 400 km of road upgrades in 2026

The Sverdlovsk Region is pushing ahead with major road upgrades in 2026. Projects include new highways, widened routes, and repairs across hundreds of kilometres. Authorities aim to boost transport links, cut journey times and support local business growth. One of the biggest projects is the Yekaterinburg Ring Road expansion. A 2.6-kilometre section is being widened to six lanes, easing congestion around the city.

Nearby, the transport interchange at the Kalina industrial complex in Yekaterinburg is now 86% finished. Officials expect it to open by late 2026. In Nizhny Tagil, the Chernoye Lake Highway and its drainage systems are almost complete, with final checks due in summer 2026.

Smaller but vital works are also underway. Kirovogradskaya Street in Kirovgrad is 92% done, with only landscaping and lighting left to finish by November 30, 2026. Aleksandra Kozitsyna Street in Verkhnyaya Pyshma will see reconstruction wrap up by the end of the year.

Across the Middle Urals, over 400 kilometres of regional and local roads will get repairs in 2026. The region plans to renew 300 kilometres of roads altogether. This includes 74 sites: 10 new builds, 12 major overhauls and 52 standard fixes.

Funding for these projects stands at 40.5 billion rubles, with 6.1 billion rubles coming from the federal budget. The upgrades will improve travel across the Sverdlovsk Region by the end of 2026. Faster routes and better connections are set to help both daily commuters and local businesses. The government has made road improvements a central part of its economic strategy.
