Swiss Air Lines repatriates 211 nationals from Oman in special flight

A special Swiss International Air Lines flight will bring Swiss nationals back from Oman on March 5, 2023. The fully booked service, LX7043, departs Muscat at 9:15 a.m. local time and lands in Zurich at 2:00 p.m. The flight follows coordination with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

The FDFA opened a booking hotline for registered Swiss citizens in Oman on March 4 at 11:00 a.m. Swiss time. A total of 211 passengers—206 adults and five babies—boarded the flight. While exact figures for eligible travellers remain unclear, the service accommodated all registered nationals who secured seats.

Passengers with pre-existing Swiss tickets, previously unable to travel, were also included. The operation, though organised with the FDFA, is not a government-funded evacuation. Instead, it serves as a repatriation effort for those seeking to return to Switzerland.

The flight marks a direct route for Swiss nationals leaving Oman. All 211 seats filled quickly after bookings opened. Those on board will arrive in Zurich by early afternoon on March 5.
