Syktyvkar braces for major traffic disruptions starting May 12

Major traffic restrictions are coming to Syktyvkar from May 12, 2023. The changes will affect key routes as reconstruction work begins on the city’s heating network. Drivers should prepare for closures and detours over the summer months. The first phase of restrictions starts on May 12, with Sovetskaya Street fully closed between Pushkin Street and Kuratov Street. Nearby, Kuratov Street will also shut completely near building No. 34 on Sovetskaya Street. These closures mark the beginning of work by LLC RSK.

From the same date, half of Sovetskaya Street will remain closed from building No. 6 on Kuratov Street to building No. 34. The restrictions will stay in place until August 3, 2023, while crews repair the heating network. Authorities have suggested alternative routes for drivers. Detours will run via Pushkin, Lenin, Kuratov, and Kirov streets to help ease congestion during the works.

The closures will last nearly three months, ending on August 3. Motorists are urged to plan ahead and follow the designated detours. The project aims to upgrade the heating system but will disrupt travel in central Syktyvkar until early August.
