Teen Coder Rebuilds Wendessen's Website from Scratch for the Community

Wendessen has unveiled a brand-new website designed to serve its community better. The platform, built from scratch by a local teenager, replaces an outdated system with a fresh, easy-to-use design. Residents and clubs can now share news and events without needing technical expertise. The project began as a council initiative to modernise Wendessen's online presence. The old site struggled with clunky design, stale content, and outdated technology. Instead of hiring external developers, the council turned to Ennio Marke, a 19-year-old recent high school graduate from the district.

Marke spent months coding the entire site himself. He avoided generic templates, crafting a custom look tailored to Wendessen's needs. The result is a vibrant, user-friendly platform where clubs and organisations can publish updates independently. With the launch complete, Marke is now preparing to start a computer science degree in Berlin this autumn. Meanwhile, the council is asking residents to test the new site and share feedback. Reports of issues, suggestions, and contributions are all welcome as the platform continues to evolve.

The redesigned www.wendessen.de is live and ready for community use. Clubs can now manage their own content, while residents are encouraged to help shape the site's future. The council's next steps depend on input from those who use it most.
