Torrex debuts €200K road link to ease traffic and connect communities

A new road connection in Torrox has linked previously isolated areas of the fast-growing district. The €200,000 project, funded by the local council, now provides direct access between Mirador de la Dehesa and La Rabitilla via Fuente Cambil. Residents and drivers are already seeing the benefits of improved traffic flow and better connections to key services. The freshly completed route includes fully surfaced tarmac, modern pavements, and updated street lighting. Drainage networks have also been upgraded, ensuring the area meets the needs of its expanding population. The project was designed to integrate a nearby residential complex with three apartment buildings, making daily travel easier for young families.

Travel times to local schools, including IES Jorge Guillén and CEIP Mare Nostrum, have been cut. Parents and students can now reach the Teatro Municipal Villa de Torrox and other public buildings more safely. Drivers also benefit from better access to the free surface parking at La Rabitilla, easing congestion on nearby streets. The improvements follow recent upgrades to the reservoir road, which now connects the industrial estate to the ring road and motorway access points. Further plans are underway to address parking shortages and transport needs, with future links expected between Torrox Park and El Peñoncillo via the Carlaja path.

The new road strengthens connections in one of Torrox’s busiest districts. It supports the council’s goal of raising living standards through targeted investment in growing areas. With smoother traffic, safer school routes, and better parking access, the project delivers immediate improvements for residents.
