Turgenev Bridge closes briefly for major structural upgrades this week

The Turgenev Bridge will face short-term traffic closures from January 30 to February 1. The restrictions will allow crews to install new reinforced concrete blocks for the span. Public transport and pedestrian access will also see temporary changes during this period.

Work begins at 8:00 AM on January 30 and continues until 8:00 PM on February 1. Two 80-ton mobile cranes will lift the span's truss into place. The project includes an elevated pedestrian crossing, featuring a 3-meter-wide walkway stretching 55.6 meters and weighing 29 tons.

Bus routes No. 29, No. 38, No. 32, No. 75, No. 83, and No. 121A will be rerouted while the work is underway. Drivers can still reach the area via Krasnikh Partizan Street or the 'Krasnaya Ploshchad' shopping centre.

The project is part of wider construction on the Western Bypass, carried out under a municipal contract.

The temporary closures aim to complete key structural upgrades. Once finished, the bridge will feature improved supports and a new pedestrian walkway. Normal traffic and transport services will resume after February 1.
