Two men have been charged after operating around 250 drones without authorisation in Mumbai’s Bandra West. The incident took place during a promotional event, leading to a police case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Each drone involved was valued at approximately Rs80,000.
Bandra police registered the case against Sunil Gupta and Gopal Singh, the 45-year-old manager of Boldsun Marketing Private Limited. The company had organised the drone display at Wing Sports Club ground on KC Marg, Nityanand Nagar.
Under Mumbai’s regulations, drones cannot be flown within the Police Commissionerate limits without prior approval. Gupta, tasked with securing the necessary permissions, allegedly failed to do so before the event. The drones were part of a promotional activity, but their unauthorised use prompted immediate legal action. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details on the event’s organisers or the exact nature of the promotion.
The two accused now face charges under Section 223 of the BNS. The case highlights the strict enforcement of drone regulations in Mumbai. Unauthorised operations, even for commercial purposes, remain prohibited without official clearance.
