Venustiano Carranza Launches Flood Prevention Operation; Over a Thousand Workers Deployed

Venustiano Carranza launches massive cleanup to prevent seasonal flooding

The Venustiano Carranza borough has kicked off a major cleanup and drainage operation to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Led by Mayor Evelyn Parra Álvarez, the initiative aims to stop water from entering homes by tackling waste disposal issues and clearing blocked drains. Over 1,000 municipal workers will take part in the effort, backed by other local agencies. The operation will run for the entire rainy season, using 86 specialised units and more than 150 urban service vehicles. Officials have identified improper waste disposal as the cause of 80% of flooding and waterlogging in the area.

Residents are being asked to play their part by avoiding littering, picking up pet waste, and correctly separating solid waste. The campaign focuses on clearing drains and managing rubbish to reduce the risk of water buildup in streets and homes.

The operation combines heavy machinery, workforce deployment, and public cooperation to limit flood damage. Authorities stress that proper waste handling is key to keeping homes dry. The effort will continue as long as heavy rains pose a threat to the borough.
