Vienna's public transport gets real-time transfer displays by March 30

Wiener Linien is upgrading its public transport network with new real-time transfer displays. By March 30, nearly 500 buses and 130 Flexity trams will show passengers when their next connection departs. The move aims to simplify travel and reduce waiting times across the city. The new displays will provide key details at a glance. Passengers will see which lines serve their stop, the exact departure times, and the direction of travel. The screens will also highlight whether a vehicle is barrier-free, helping those with mobility needs plan their journey.

Real-time data for the displays comes directly from Wiener Linien's central data hub. This ensures up-to-date information for the nearly 3,700 stops where transfers are possible. By late March, all suitable vehicles will feature the system, with 78 of the 130 Flexity trams already equipped by March 2024, according to reports from Wiener Linien and industry publications like *Straßenbahn Journal*. Gudrun Senk, technical managing director of Wiener Linien, stated that the displays will improve passenger orientation and smooth out boarding processes. Public transport councillor Ulli Sima added that the upgrade is part of broader efforts to make Vienna's public transport more user-friendly and appealing.

The rollout of these displays marks a step toward more efficient travel in Vienna. Passengers will now have clearer information on connections, reducing confusion at stops. The system's integration with real-time data ensures reliability for daily commuters and visitors alike.
