Vladivostok's New Exhibition Honors Soviet Bravery in the Great Patriotic War
A new book exhibition titled War. Victory. Memory (0+) has opened at Library No. 10 in Vladivostok. The event brings together classic and modern works centred on the Great Patriotic War, aiming to honour the Soviet people’s bravery during those years. The exhibition’s theme is captured in an epigraph from Robert Rozhdestvensky’s poem Requiem: “Remember! Through the centuries, through the years—remember!” Visitors can explore a wide range of materials, from wartime poetry to detailed historical accounts.
A vintage suitcase filled with songbooks and verses by Olga Berggolts sits as one of the key displays. Nearby, a section highlights the memoirs of 69 survivors who defended Leningrad between 1941 and 1944. Works by renowned authors such as Konstantin Simonov, Boris Vasilyev, and Aleksandr Tvardovsky are also featured. Another notable piece is *The Order of Victory: To the Commanders*, a book documenting Soviet military leaders awarded the USSR’s highest honour. The exhibition further includes large, newly published volumes dedicated to the people of Primorsky Krai who fought in the war. These books contain archival photographs and personal biographies, offering a closer look at local contributions.
The exhibition seeks to ensure the memory of the Great Patriotic War endures. By presenting battles, personal stories, and victories, it reinforces the importance of historical remembrance. The collection remains open to the public at Library No. 10.
