Vladivostok's Rudnevsky Bridge to Get 5 Billion Ruble Rebuild Ahead of Schedule
Vladivostok's Rudnevsky Bridge is set for a major rebuild, with work starting later this year. The project, funded by a 5 billion ruble loan from Moscow, will replace the old structure with a wider, four-lane crossing. Officials had initially expected funding delays, but early approval has pushed construction forward ahead of schedule.
The current Rudnevsky Bridge plays a vital role in Vladivostok's transport network. Its reconstruction will stretch 498 metres long and 28 metres wide, doubling capacity with four traffic lanes. The old bridge will be fully dismantled before the new one is built in its place.
Originally, Primorsky Krai had not anticipated receiving the necessary funds until 2028–2030. Governor Oleg Kozhemyako secured earlier financing after discussions with President Vladimir Putin. The 5 billion ruble allocation comes from a 10 billion ruble infrastructure loan, which will also support two additional local projects.
Construction is expected to take at least three years. Vladivostok Mayor Konstantin Shestakov has already announced plans to select a contractor for the job. The accelerated timeline follows Moscow's decision to prioritise the bridge's renewal.
The new bridge will improve traffic flow in a key part of the city. With funding now in place, work can begin without the long wait originally projected. Completion is slated for 2027, depending on construction progress.
