Vyazemsky District plants hundreds of trees to honor war heroes

Hundreds of trees have been planted across Vyazemsky District as part of the 'Garden of Memory' initiative. The campaign honours those lost in the Great Patriotic War and participants in the special military operation. Residents, officials, and veterans came together to create living memorials in local villages. The project began in Dormidontovka, where locals planted the first trees to form future memorial avenues. Their efforts set the stage for wider participation across the district.

On June 7, a major planting event took place in Venyukovo. Border guards, a military veteran, kindergarten children, teachers, cultural workers, and school students joined forces. Together, they planted 50 larch trees, 15 mountain ash, and 15 guelder rose bushes. New commemorative alleys have also appeared in Sadovoye, Sheremetyevo, Kapitonovka, and Kotikovo. Each tree serves as a personal tribute to a fallen family member. The initiative has united communities under the international 'Gardens of Memory' programme.

The campaign will continue, with plans to expand the memorial plantings to more villages in the district. These living monuments ensure the memory of heroes remains alive for generations to come. More trees are expected to be planted in the coming months.
