Weld County extends free transit for seniors and disabled residents through 2026
Weld County has extended its partnership with Via Mobility Transit Services until the end of 2026. The programme offers free shared-ride transport for older adults and people with disabilities across Northern Colorado and parts of Wyoming. Since its launch, it has already delivered over 7,000 trips to more than 200 registered users.
The service covers unincorporated areas of Weld County and nearby towns, including Ault, Fort Lupton, Gilcrest, Hudson, Johnstown, Keenesburg, Kersey, Milliken, Nunn, and Platteville. It also reaches into Cheyenne, Wyoming, providing rides for essential needs like medical visits, grocery shopping, and social outings.
Weld County contributes around £46,000 each year to help fund the programme. Riders must meet eligibility rules and book trips in advance through Via's reservation system. More details and sign-up information are available at viacolorado.org.
The extended agreement secures continued transport access for eligible residents through 2026. The programme remains focused on supporting daily mobility for those who need it most in the region. No further details have been released on the exact number of municipalities or unincorporated areas included.
