Wiesbaden's Zietenring to close overnight for transformer maintenance

Wiesbaden's Zietenring will close to vehicles for two nights at the end of February. The shutdown is part of scheduled maintenance on a transformer station. Drivers and pedestrians will need to follow temporary routes during the work.

The road will be shut from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on two separate occasions. The first closure runs from Friday, February 27, to Saturday, February 28. The second follows from Sunday, March 1, to Monday, March 2.

ESWE Netz GmbH has ordered the work to maintain the transformer station. A signed diversion will guide vehicles around the affected area. Pedestrians can still use the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street.

Future plans for the Zietenring include long-term pedestrian diversions starting in 2026. The city will install temporary signs and signals to direct walkers along parallel routes, as detailed on the official Wiesbaden website.

The overnight closures will last for two nights only. Drivers must follow the marked detours, while pedestrians can stick to the open sidewalk. The work aims to ensure the transformer station remains operational.
