Wolfsburg is set to carry out major roadworks across several districts this summer. The city administration has scheduled repairs, resurfacing, and full reconstructions on key routes between June and September. Residents and drivers should expect delays and temporary closures in affected areas.
Work begins on June 15 with the construction of a new access road linking the Kästorf Volunteer Fire Station to Jembker Straße. This project is expected to finish by late September.
On June 22, Rabenbergstraße will undergo a full reconstruction lasting around 20 weeks. Meanwhile, Forstweg in Sülfeld will see 90 metres of roadway replaced from June 29. From July 2, Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße will be repaired between Lessingstraße and Schachtweg, with work continuing until August 4. Meinstraße in Vorsfelde will also be renovated during this period, from July 20 to August 4. In Ehmen, Zum Alten Bahnhof will receive new surfacing between July 6 and July 10. Wettmershagener Straße in Sülfeld will be updated in two stages: a partial lane closure in August, followed by a full closure for about a week. Additionally, Nordsteimker Straße will remain completely shut for the entire summer holiday due to the construction of Section South 1 of the Alternative Green Route.
The roadworks will impact multiple districts, including Sülfeld, Ehmen, Velstove, Vorsfelde, Nordstadt, the city centre, and Nordsteimke. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes where possible, as closures and delays will be in place throughout the summer months. The city has emphasised that the maintenance is essential for improving road conditions.
