Yekaterinburg cracks down on e-scooters with expanded no-ride zones and speed limits
Yekaterinburg is expanding its restrictions on electric scooters. Under a new agreement, the number of no-ride zones will more than double from 10 to 22. The city also plans to introduce speed limits in several busy areas. The updated rules will ban e-scooters from multiple parks and public spaces. Pavlik Morozov Park, 22nd Party Congress Park, and Kamvolny Kombinat Park are among the newly restricted areas. Historical Square and Avetis Terteryan Square will also become no-ride zones.
Along the Iset River, scooters will be prohibited from the embankment between Lenin Avenue and Olympiyskaya Embankment. Another restricted stretch runs from Lenin Avenue to the bridge over the Iset River along Chelyuskintsev Street.
Speed limits will now apply on key streets and parks. Vayner Street, Marshal Zhukov Street, and Griboedov Street will enforce reduced speeds. Preobrazhensky Park and the alley along Posadskaya Street will also see new limits.
The city intends to formalise these changes by signing agreements with all three e-scooter sharing companies operating in Yekaterinburg. Once implemented, the new measures will cover more parks, embankments, and streets. Scooter riders will need to follow stricter rules in designated areas. The city aims to improve safety and reduce conflicts in busy public spaces.
