Yekaterinburg rolls out 15 high-tech articulated buses by June 2023
Yekaterinburg is expanding its public transport fleet with 15 new articulated buses. These vehicles, measuring 18 metres in length, will serve key routes across the city. The upgrade includes modern features like USB charging ports and a digital passenger-counting system.
The Yekaterinburg Administration signed a contract to supply the new buses, which must arrive by 30 June 2023. Each vehicle can carry up to 184 passengers and is fitted with fare validators for contactless payments.
The buses also include the *Smart City* system, which tracks the number of paying travellers. Real-time data from this system is shown on an electronic display inside each bus. Initially, 15 similar buses were introduced on routes 49 and 51. The latest batch will now operate on routes 50, 64, and 67, improving capacity on busy lines.
The new buses will offer more space and convenience for passengers. Features like USB ports and digital fare systems aim to make journeys smoother. All 15 vehicles are expected to enter service before the end of June.
